Morzine

Morzine is situated in the river Dranse valley, below the cliff top town of Avoriaz. It is an old market town which retains much of its character. A market is still held every Wednesday morning down by the river.

You can soak up the atmosphere in its many bars and restaurants, where a warm welcome is guaranteed. A tourist information centre and banks are located in the upper town square. There are internet cafes, shops and two cinemas (with some films in English during the winter).

Each week during the winter season (snow permitting) the ESF instructors perform a history of skiing show on the floodlit Pleney slope, and a torch light descent.

The sports centre includes an ice rink, gym, sauna, jacuzzi and bar, and hosts regular ice hockey matches. The Olympic size swimming pool is only a five minute walk away.

During the summer, each week seems to bring different attractions to the area. From road cycle races, cross country/downhill mountain bike races, circuses, concerts, a firework spectacle set to music at the lake (in August), the Morzine/Mt Blanc rally (in September), 4x4 driving competitions and lots of local fetes.
